Courage is found in unlikely places!
Creativity and health, throughout history, has been the subject of human interest. Using stories, paintings, pictures, dances, any form of creativity may be the catalyst for the healing process.
The therapeutic benefits of artistic and creative activities comes in many forms. What Taff Rocks offers, painting rocks for example, dot mandalas and hopefully a 3D clay project, can offer healthy forms of escape.
The Taff Rocks facilitators are not mental health experts or qualified therapists but each one of us has experienced the therapeutic values and benefits of creativity. Part of the benefits of these values includes passing on the knowledge and skills to others in order to help them gain confidence in their creative mind and strengthen their mental health self-care toolbox.
When the intention of any forms of creativity is self-expression, the value in the creative piece becomes the emotional benefits. The processes we go though to create our art, to transform it into something physical, is a reflection of our thought process.
When we put our mental process into a physical form, we can feel more in control of our thoughts and feelings and can understand them more clearly.
As individuals living in a fast-paced culture, we are each personally responsible for our own emotions and thoughts, no one can make you happy but yourself. We all choose for ourselves.
As facilitators of creative activities, the most we can do is help influence beneficiaries, offer opportunities for self-expression and guide you through a learning experience which may, or may not, influence your emotions.
No one can change how you feel, we can help influence you for the better, hopefully not worse. But ultimately only you have the power to decide your emotions and behaviour.
"You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work-in-progress simultaneously."
Self love and self care is a journey that has no definite start or end point. It isn't something you can quantify so there is no such thing as too much. There is no right or wrong way because everyone's journey is unique.
Taff Rocks has the resources to help you hone your artistic and imaginative skills, to express yourself and gain self confidence with your visually creative journey. A journey of self discovery, self love, self care and self repair producing works to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.
"Sometimes the hardest part of the journey is believing you are worthy of the trip." - Glenn Beck
We say to each and every one of you, you are 100% worthy.
The Pygmalion Effect (Kashen 2011)
Never has the cliche "Fake it 'till you make it" been brilliant advice.
If you don't believe something about yourself, it's hard to succeed. But if you believe you can, you will.
There is no one that is 'rubbish' at being creative, creativity is subjective. If you believe your creative project is strong and feel confident about it, you will probably create something strong and confident. If, by contrast, you are uncertain about your creative project, you may have trouble creating something to enjoy.
Your faith in your creative project and yourself will serve you well.
If you believe you have something others will really enjoy or find useful, you will be enthusiastic about your art and creative process. And enthusiasm is contagious. By anticipating a positive outcome, you start behaving in ways to make it come true.
Caveat: Confidence and positivity is useful; arrogance and negativity, not so much.
"When you allow your negative thoughts to dominate your positive thoughts, you develop unhealthy mental patterns that lead to low self-esteem and psychological problems such as anxiety, addictions, and phobias ... these mental patterns prevent you from seeing the best in yourself and others, and they encourage you to develop negative expectations about everyone and everything around you. As a result, your subconscious mind creates failure instead of success and happiness." - Darya Sinusoid, Nov 17, 2021
